American pilot detained for drunkenness
An anonymous tip led to the arrest of an allegedly intoxicated American pilot preparing for takeoff in Amsterdam.
Police did not identify the pilot or his airline but the AP said he is a 52-year-old captain from Woodbury, NJ.
The pilot had a blood-alcohol content of 0.023 percent, just above the legal limit in the Netherlands, according to the AP.
The flight with 200 passengers was delayed and the pilot fined 700 euros, said police statement said.
Bloomberg reported the pilot works for Delta Air Lines. The airline said it cancelled a flight from Amsterdam to Newark because of concerns a crew member was "unfit for duty."
