American tourist shot in Mexico
An American tourist has been shot in Mexico.
The shooting happened in the town of Puerto Morelos, near Cancun.
The man was shot in the leg but is not life threatening, Quintana Roo officials said.
He is undergoing medical care in a Cancun hospital.
Prosecutors said he was approached in the street by several men and was shot but no motive has been disclosed.
The U.S. State Department has issued a travel warning tourists to be extra cautious and highlighting the risks of kidnappings in some Mexican states.
Recently four men were abducted and two of them were killed, while two Canadians were killed last year in Playa del Carmen.
Tourists have even been injured and killed when caught in the crossfire of drug gang shootouts.
