American tourists cause airport panic in Israel
A family of American tourists caused widespread panic among other passengers at arguably the world’s most security conscious airport.
They attempted to board a plane at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport with an artillery shell in their luggage.
The unexploded shell was a ’souvenir ’one of the children found during a trip to the Golan Heights.
Once spotted by security personnel, the terminal went to evacuation mode.
Despite an announcement to ‘slowly’ exit the terminal, people ran out or dived for cover in panic, according to video footage posted online.
An Israeli man was taken to hospital for treatment after climbed onto a luggage conveyor belt to take cover and fell off.
After questioning the family were allowed to fly home to the US without their souvenir.
