Americans told to leave Russia ‘immediately’
The US State Department is warning Americans currently in Russia to leave ‘immediately.’
It issued a travel advisory at the weekend over security concerns, and believes there is‘potential for harassment against US citizens by Russian government security officials.’
With few flight options into and out of Russia, U.S. citizens should depart Russia immediately, it said.
The advisory was updated from the recent ’consider’ departing Russia immediately.
“As foreigners make plans to exit the country, ‘some credit and debit cards may be declined as a result of sanctions imposed on Russian banks.”
“You should make arrangements on your own as soon as possible. If you plan to stay in Russia, understand the U.S. Embassy has severe limitations on its ability to assist citizens, and conditions, including transportation options, may change suddenly,” it said.
