Amex GBT launches ground transportation platform
American Express Global Business Travel has rolled out a new multi-channel ground transportation platform for travel managers.
GBT says it is the first solution of its kind that offers a GDS-agnostic solution and one-stop interface across all transportation modes whether the booking is made online, offline or through the Amex GBT Mobile app.
It aggregates more than 750 ground operators in over 2,000 cities including black cars, taxis, limos, airport express trains and shuttles.
It also features ridesharing thanks to the recently announced partnership with Lyft.
"Traditionally, ground spend has been a blind spot for travel managers. GBT clients saw 95%+ leakage through out-of-policy booking channels for ground bookings in 2017, resulting in lost opportunities for our clients to negotiate on that spend and ensure traveller compliance," said Michael Qualantone, executive vice president of global supplier relations at American Express Global Business Travel.
"Our ground transportation platform is the first solution of its kind for booking via a seamless user experience that meets both the content and choice expectations of travelers and the core needs of travel managers."
Travel managers now get access to all company bookings in a single location, GBT says.
It also integrates with Global Trip Record (GTR), GBT’s real-time and historic trip data feed.
