Amsterdam celebrates 750 years with exceptional experiences for visitors
Amsterdam will officially celebrate its 750th anniversary of its birth on October 27, 2025. However, the city started celebrating since the end of last year and is unveiling new attractions for its visitors. Some are only running during the year for the celebration.
Amsterdam celebrations began with a spectacular opening concert at the Ziggo Dome on 27 October 2024. A highlight of the jubilee year was then the Toekomst Tiendaagse in June 2025, a ten-day event focused on the future of Amsterdam, culminating in a grand festival on the Ring A10 on June 21, 2025. During the summer and autumn, the festivities continue: The Kwaku Summer festival mixing football, arts and music (each week-end from 12-26 July); Grachten Festival along Amsterdam famed canals (15-24 August); SAIL (20-24 August); the Marathon on October 19 until the final grand celebration on October 27.

Visitors can learn how smart ideas can contribute to a greener, healthier city. The outdoor stage offers a diverse program of events, including film screenings, musical evenings, and stargazing nights.
The 17th century stairwell of De Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) invites visitors to climb a 115-m tower, which was never finished. The ‘Roof of the City’ is open daily until Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
