Anchorage first for Holland America
SEATTLE – Holland America Line is introducing new 14-day Alaskan Adventurer cruises on its flagship ms Amsterdam in 2010, which will sail roundtrip from Seattle and include a call at Anchorage for the first time.
The 1,380-guest Amsterdam will be the first cruise ship of a major cruise line to call regularly in Anchorage, providing guests with a full day and evening in Alaska’s major city.
The Amsterdam will also call at Homer and Kodiak, two less frequented ports.
The new itinerary reduces the cruise line’s overall 2010 Alaska deployment by 10 sailings or about 11,000 guests.
The 10 new 14-day sailings replace 20 7-day sailings between Vancouver and Seward, Alaska.
Shore excursion options out of Anchorage include day trips to Talkeetna for views of Mt. McKinley, flightseeing of the mountain, rafting and sportfishing.
There will be opportunities for bear viewing, a Turnagin Pass float trip or a day tour to Girdwood for a tram ride to the top of Mt. Alyeska.
