And the Best US Airport is…
Like one of the cars that make this city famous, Indianapolis’ airport has won a race of its own—the 2012 Airport Service Quality Award for North America.
This is the second time Indy has won the prestigious customer-service award, given annually by the Airports Council International. It also won in 2010, and has scored in the top three every year since.
The winners are determined by travelers themselves, who fill out questionnaires at the gates of airports around the world throughout the year.
Rounding out the top five North America winners, in order, were Ottawa, Tampa, Sacramento, and Jacksonville.
In Europe, travelers will get the best service in Moscow Sheremetyevo, Malta, Edinburgh, Keflavik, and Zurich, the survey found.
And in Asia, the winner is Seoul Incheon, followed by Singapore, Beijing, New Delhi, and Hong Kong.
Cancun took first place in Latin America, and Cape Town won in Africa. Abu Dhabi scored gold twice, for best airport, and for most improved, in the Middle East.
"As airports and their operators increasingly accept the positive correlation between passenger satisfaction and airport revenues, we see more and more airports striving to meet, and in some cases exceed, the levels of customer service that their passengers expect," said ACI world director general Angela Gittens.
