OpenTable, a new application that can be used to check the real-time booking availability of a number of restaurants in the vicinity, as well as to read the customer reviews and to get the direction to the restaurants, has been launched for the Android platform recently. This application will manage to take the ease and convenience of making online reservations to a whole new level of simplicity.

OpenTable Inc. is a free online provider for hotel reservations and guest management system. The launch of OpenTable from the Android platform means that diners can make bookings while they are on the go, by simply using their smartphones. This application is the latest addition to OpenTable’s smartphone application series, empowering the users to find and book places in restaurants from anywhere. Users will no longer have to research from a desktop and then make multiple calls to the individual restaurants to enquire about the availability of seats and to make appointments. They will be provided with information about all the restaurants in the area, and then they can book the seats from their smartphone itself.

With the help of Android OpenTable, diners can simply put in the desired date, time and the number of people who will attend the dinner. From there on, they can go ahead, refine and filter the search by pricing, or cuisine of the restaurants. They will also be able to view the restaurants on maps and send mail to their friends, inviting them to the restaurant – complete with all details and direction to the place.

This application will be a huge benefit for casual diners, travelers and business diners. Users who register with OpenTable will be able to view and modify their upcoming reservations and can earn OpenTable Dining Points. OpenTable for Android users can view their currently earned points from their smatphones and can also book 1,000-point reservations that will allow them to earn points for free meals faster than before.

The great thing about Android platform is that it can integrate different application with ease, thus enhancing the user experience. Android has managed to integrate WHERE and GoodFood, two location-based applications in Android Market, with OpenTable. This will serve to better the dining and booking experience for the clients of Android.
