Another record year for Tahiti
With Sydney experiencing a very cold winter indeed, there was some relief this week with the sunshine of a Tahiti coming to town at the 2007 Tahiti Tourisme Roadshow in Sydney, which attracted 200 travel agents and wholesalers to Dockside in Darling Harbour, with another 140 are due to take part in a similar event at Melbourne’s Grand Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne on Wednesday.

12 Tahitian travel operators were present at the workshop and Tahiti Tourisme’s Interim Director for Australia and New Zealand Robert Thompson told delegates that Tahiti was preparing to welcome a record number of Australians for the second year running, with arrivals on track to eclipse the 11,400 Australians who visited last year as travellers continued their love affair with the world’s most romantic destination.
He added, “Driving all the interest is Tahiti’s enduring romantic image, its exciting blend of beach breaks and culture and adventure experiences, and of course the convenience of direct flights between Sydney and Papeete with Air Tahait Nui.”
“We’re also seeing more Australian wholesalers include Tahitian product in their range as they respond to the destination’s ongoing appeal and the increasing quality and diversity of its holiday product”.

“Recognising this, wholesalers are using a greater variety of Tahiti accommodation and activities to create tempting travel packages to suit every budget.” [Pictured right above – the stunning pool at the Sofitel Tahiti, with Moorea in the background – recently visited by The Mole]
Mr Thompson said as well as some of the most stunning beaches in the world, Tahiti offered the chance to swim with reef sharks, trek through magnificent valleys, dive on stunning reefs, parasail across translucent lagoons and surf amazing breaks.
“There is something for everyone in Tahiti and her islands,” he said.
