Anti-terror police raid Calais hotel
Anti-terror police have raided a hotel in Calais amid fears a jihadi cell may be operating there among migrants trying to get into Britain.
The budget Belazur Hotel was stormed by police yesterday after 168 pre-dawn raids across France, according to The Sun newspaper.
A rocket launcher was among a huge cache of weapons seized in Lyon.
A police source added: "There are always fears that terrorists are living among the thousands of illegal immigrants in Calais."
Following the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, checks have also been introduced at France’s border with Belgium together with increased security at Belgian airports and international railway stations.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said that the Belgian government had increased the threat level for major public events, which is likely to result in heightened security, including a military presence.
