APD campaign reaches 9,000 signatures
More than 9,000 people have backed the campaign against APD by signing an email to their MP.
Since the launch of the Fair Tax on Flying campaign, 44 MPs have also backed an early day motion opposing the current levels of tax.
Denis Macshane MP has written to the Chancellor pointing out that families in Britain have to pay nearly 10 times as much Air Passenger Duty to go on holiday compared to their equivalents in France.
The Fair Tax on Flying group, which includes 30 airlines, airports, tour operators and trade bodies hopes to persuade 100,000 people to support its battle.
The group has yet to persuade the Government but there have been indications that the Goverment is considering regional variations to APD levels, see previous story.
