APD tax affects poorest and minority groups the most, says poll
Low income communities and those in ethnic minorities will suffer the most from APD hikes, according to a new poll.
More than 60% of people in society’s lowest socio-economic groups and two-thirds of ethnic minorities said that the rises last November would affect how much they could travel to see relatives abroad. This compares to 55% of the general population reporting a similar situation.
The poll, commissioned by aviation pressure group Flight Matters, suggested the tax would further discourage travel by these groups when more hikes happen this November.
