APEC public holiday for Sydney metro workers
Working Australians in the Sydney metropolitan area will have a public holiday on Friday 7 September 2007, with a Bill, introduced today by the Hon Joe Hockey MP, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, meaning that all employees covered by the federal workplace relations system will enjoy a public holiday if they work in the specified metropolitan area.
The public holiday will help to ensure the smooth running of the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation meeting – one of the most important annual meetings of world leaders.
Visit www.workplace.gov.au to check to see whether your place of work is within the specified geographical area.
