Around the world in eighty clicks
Travel 2.0 site iloho – www.iloho.com – has today launched geographical browsing capabilities, improved user profiles and a bespoke social bookmarking tool, with Iloho users are now able to navigate all of the site’s content by geo-location, track on-site activity on improved profile pages, build up a network of friends, boost their user-ranking as well as forward and blog interesting content.
Iloho is also launching a customised social bookmarking button that allows travel writers and bloggers to share and promote their articles on the site in one easy step.
Iloho’s interactive world map makes it quick and easy to research travel news by countries or regions.
One click takes users into stories pertaining to a selected region, with individual countries in that region listed below to make further refinement as simple as possible.
In just two clicks travellers can access a wealth of information about specific countries and destinations that they are interested in, making researching a trip or getting up to speed on the latest news fast and effective. Users can further narrow down geo-located content searches by specific topic area.
Members will also benefit from an enhanced profile section that allows them to view comprehensive information about themselves and other users.
The improved “My Profile” section will display members’ on-site activity including stories they have posted, commented on and voted for, as well as their recent participations and network activities.
Newly launching in the profiles section is iloho’s user ranking system, which allows members to build up on-site credit helping them to become influential community players.
Travellers will also be able to connect with each other through the profiles section and build up a network of friends; members can now send invitations to contacts outside the community inviting them to join iloho too or to read an interesting article.
Also launching this week is an improved social bookmarking system to help travel writers and bloggers promote and share their stories. By adding the iloho bookmarking button to websites and blogs travel writers can syndicate their articles to iloho in one easy step, thereby creating more awareness for and traffic to their sites.
Members are also able to forward interesting travel news to friends and contacts using a one-step email a friend button.
Instructions on how to add the iloho bookmarking button to blogs and websites can be found at
http://www.iloho.com/iloho_tools/iloho_button; there are three styles to choose from.
The button has already been implemented by hugely popular online travel community http://www.travellerspoint.com/.
Vinnie Pepi, Vice President of Product and Marketing, said: “We’ve been working extremely hard to make iloho as compelling and rewarding for travellers as possible and believe that the launch of our new profile, social bookmarking and geo-location functions will do just that.
The updated profiles section will increase the community feel of iloho, and our new interactive map will help our users to access relevant content as easily as possible. We also hope to see the iloho bookmarking button take off with travel writers and bloggers, thereby promoting quality travel content from across the web. This release is taking our site to the next level in terms of integration and usability.”
Iloho launched in June 2007. The site focuses on user-generated news stories, social networking and in-depth route reviews. Partnered with frequent flyer stalwarts FlyerTalk.com and the WebFlyer Network, iloho offers a unique and rewarding community experience that allows its users to define travel headlines, interact with like-minded individuals and plan the perfect trip. Iloho’s content is generated wholly by its users; they choose, create and rate every single story and review ensuring that the site is continuously refreshed with the most relevant and recommended travel information.
