Asiana name to disappear in Korean Air integration
The Asiana Airlines brand name is set to disappear.
Cho Won-tae, chairman of parent Hanjin Group outlined the aim of the integration of the Korean Air-Asiana merger.
The main airline business will operate under the Korean Air brand going forward.
Additionally, the group’s three low cost airlines will be integrated into a single brand.
“Jin Air, Air Busan and Air Seoul will become an integrated Jin Air. By bringing together our air and ground logistics operations, we will become a global logistics group that links Korea and overseas markets seamlessly,” he said.
“Now Hanjin Group’s rivals are in the global market, we have to expand our horizons and reform ourselves to compete on the world stage.”
The merger will give the combined business a fleet of 240 aircraft.
He stressed that complete integration of the two carriers will serve as a catalyst for the group’s global expansion.
