Asia’s first Element Hotel opens in China
Starwood Hotels & Resorts has debuted its eco-friendly Element brand in Asia Pacific with the opening of Element Suzhou Science and Technology Town.
The hotel has 188 rooms and suites each with an energy-efficient kitchen, 1,200 square metres of flexible meeting space, an all-day dining restaurant and fitness centre.
Element guests have keyless access to rooms via Starwood’s SPG smartphone app.
"We are thrilled to introduce Starwood’s first Element Hotel in Asia Pacific, in China, one of the fastest growing and most dynamic travel markets in the world," said Stephen Ho, president, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Asia Pacific.
"Recent studies have shown that consumers are becoming increasingly interested in environmentally-friendly practices and products, as well as sustainable living. We are confident that the stylish and sustainable Element brand ethos will meet that demand."
Starwood also plans to open further Element properties in China including Element Chongli in Zhangjiakou and Element Sanya Haitang Bay in Sanya, and the company says it is on track to triple its Element portfolio by 2017, after signing deals for 19 new hotels in 2014.
