ATOL, GDS and IATA/TIDS numbers – worthwhile or not?

Wednesday, 30 Dec, 2002 0

I am a small provider of group tours to Italy and also some in the UK. I have three questions for you all.

1. For my overseas tours, my customers buy their flights using low cost carriers and I am not involved at all other than to provide airport transfers. Do I need an ATOL license? If I wanted to work with an agent on flights would I need one then?

2. Can anyone give me the pros and cons, and costs of GDS systems currently on offer? I am a small tour operator who would only require a single or two user license.

3. Do I need a IATA/TIDS number? Is it worth the hassle? Is there any hassle?

Thanks

Richard
