Auction site signs up Britannia Hotels

An online room auction service has added to its portfolio by signing up Britannia Hotels.

RoomAuction.com noow has more than 120 hotels available, allowing users to bid for rooms at below standard published rates.

Britannia has hotels in Blackpool, Brighton, London, Manchester and Liverpool.

The site works on the basis of potential guests deciding what proportion of the standard rate they are prepared to pay and the hotelier then deciding if the offer is good enough. The company claims that some hoteliers are prepared to accept “cheeky” bids of up to 50% off.

Hoteliers pay an annual fee of £250 plus VAT to be listed on the site but do not pay commission on bookings.

Managing director Bob Drapella said: “We now have hotels offering from two to 465 bedrooms, rates from £25 to £225 per room, hotels situated from Scotland to Cornwall and Wales to East Anglia with meeting facilities from three to 3,500 delegates in one room. This provide a great level of flexbility to suit UK leisure and business travellers.”
