The onset of autumn in the UK has turned the attention of British holidaymakers to sunnier climes.

Travel search site Skyscanner’s latest flight trends for the month of September show that for the first time Bangkok has entered the Top Ten most sought after holiday destinations in a list led by Spanish favourites Malaga, Tenerife and Alicante.

Long haul destinations performed best in September; flights to Australia saw the highest rise in popularity, with Brisbane up 22 places, Melbourne up 18 and Perth up 16.

In New Zealand, Auckland jumped 20 places.

India also fared well with Mumbai up 14, and Delhi up 16; Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur also rose 14 spots.

India’s Goa was straight in to the Top 100 at number 80, while Singapore entered at number 84.
