Australia may keep borders closed until late 2022
Australia could keep borders closed to most foreign travellers for another year at least. Responding to a question, Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Dan Tehan said it could be ‘the middle to the second half of next year,’ although things can change quickly.
Australia has been closed to inbound leisure tourism for more than a year although it has opened a travel bubble with neighbour New Zealand, and is mulling other similar agreements with Singapore and other countries.
Tehan told Sky News Australia hopes to pursue other travel bubbles this year before opening borders fully.
