Austria’s focus for 2007
Astrid Mullholland-Licht, Austrian National Tourist Office Director for Australia and New Zealand [pictured with the Aus and NZ delegation at actb’07] told the Mole that ANTO’s 2007 focus would be in two areas, namely, skiing and food and wine and that these would be the core features of the Australia and New Zealand Austria roadshows taking place later this year.
“We also have some exciting promotions coming up based around ‘Sweet Vienna’, where we will be using Vienna’s global reputation for coffee and cakes and of course the Sacher Torte as a core focus and also a massive promotion with Universal Music around Mother’s Day- so watch this space!”
We are also launching a 24hrs in Vienna programme in April, which will be really exciting.
Astrid added, “My strategy is that we are too small a player in the Aus and NZ market place for classic advertising, so we have to do things differently and more innovatively and that is also why we work very closely with the over 100 wholesalers in Australia and New Zealand who feature Austria!”
“Austria is also the cradle of skiing and while we have lost market share since ten years ago, we are aiming to regain this and we want to work with Aussie ski resort to do so.” “It is interesting that Falls Creek and Mount Bulla are run by Austrians so they are natural place to start.” “We do not want to take business away from them but because our ski seasons are seasonally opposed, we think we can help them generate more business and so will we!”
