Authorities investigate Air Berlin flyby
Aviation authorities are allegedly investigating an Air Berlin pilot who performed a low fly-by to mark the airline’s last transatlantic flight.
Air traffic control had given permission for Flight AB7001 from Miami to Dusseldorf to perform a flyover the German airport on Monday, but reports claim the Airbus A330, which was carrying 200 passengers, flew dangerously close to the terminal building.
Reports in The Local claim the federal aviation office LBA is looking into the incident. Air Berlin said it was supporting the LBA in its work.
Air Berlin, which is insolvent, will cease operations by October 28.
