Avalanche hits Tignes blue run
The French ski resort of Tignes is reporting that nobody was injured in an avalanche which struck a blue run this morning.
French officials said everyone on the intermediate slope in the Grande Balme area have been found safe and well.
Local police said they examined every metre of the piste and found no victims.
The rescue effort was hampered by difficult weather conditions and poor visibility.
Part of the ski resort has been closed to the public.
It is highly unusual for avalanches to hit ski pistes. They usually only affect off-piste areas which are not maintained.
Last month four snowboarders were killed in Tignes when an avalanche hit an off-piste area.
