Avelo to end all west coast flights
Avelo announced it is pulling out of the west coast.
It will start phasing out flights in California, Oregon and Washington starting from August through early December.
“This was not an easy decision. We believe the continuation of service from Burbank in the current operating environment will not deliver adequate financial returns in a highly competitive backdrop,” said CEO Andrew Levy.
The airline will focus on its east coast operations, with its two Burbank based aircraft shifting to Connecticut.
The airline started Burbank flights in 2021.
Avelo flies to Las Vegas and smaller west coast cities such as Salem and Eugene, Oregon, Palm Springs and Sonoma County.
The airline has been impacted by ongoing demonstrations and a customer boycott over its decision to operate ICE deportation flights.
Its bases on both the east and west coasts have seen protests.
The airline says these protests were not a factor in its decision to cut all west coast commercial flights.
