Azul launching Orlando-Belo Horizonte flights
Brazilian carrier Azul Airlines is adding a second route to Orlando.
Beginning November 16, the airline will operate the first-ever nonstop flights between Belo Horizonte and Orlando using Airbus A330 widebody jets.
The service will operate five days a week and then become daily from December 14.
Belo Horizonte is Azul’s second largest hub based on number of flight connections and there is strong demand for a second Orlando route from Brazil, says Azul founder David Neeleman.
"We had many customers who came from Belo Horizonte to Sao Paulo to catch our flight to Orlando. So with this new flight, the more connections we have, the better."
Many Brazilians living in the United States are from Belo Horizonte, and Belo Horizonte residents like traveling to the U.S. It’s the first time that these two cities have been connected and we’re excited about it," Neeleman said.
This summer Azul is adding an extra three flights a week on its existing routes from Sao Paulo to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale beginning July 1.
