BA calls armed police to deal with angry passengers at Heathrow
British Airways has launched an investigation after armed police were called to Heathrow to calm angry passengers whose flight to New York was delayed by more than 10 hours due to a technical fault.
Some of the passengers allegedly became angry after being left at the boarding gate in Terminal 5 for several hours.
They had earlier spent three hours sitting on the aircraft before being told to return to the terminal and wait for further information.
Staff became concerned when a crowd gathered around the BA desk, said reports, and police were called to calm the situation.
A Met Police spokesman said: "Officers were called at 3.30pm to reports of a disturbance in Terminal 5 at Gate 33.
"There were no arrests and officers left the location at approximately 4.20pm. No offences were recorded."
The flight eventually left for New York at 20:00 hours.
