BA expands at Bristol
British Airways is to increase capacity at Bristol Airport next spring.
A fifth aircraft is to be deployed at the expanding airport from March 27 with a new route to be announced in December.
The Embraer 145 will also be used to increase BA’s frequencies on existing international routes.
The planned expansion by BA comes as easyJet prepares for the launch of flights to Budapest, Rome, Madrid and Valencia from Bristol this month and an Eastern Airways link with Aberdeen.
The airport is also getting its first transatlantic scheduled service next year with the start of Continental Airlines’ flights to Newark on May 20.
Bristol Airport’s aviation development director Tony Hallwood said: “The fact that we are now attracting expansion from BA is a testament to Bristol International’s standing on the global stage.”
