BA ‘eyeing up’ Iberia
British Airways has reportedly hinted that it is still considering a merger with the Spanish national carrier Iberia.
The online news provider Ananova today quotes the BA chief executive Rod Eddington, who reportedly told the Spanish newspaper El Pais that he would like to see the two carriers “in each others’ arms”.
The website reports that Eddington is in Madrid for meetings with Iberia bosses “that were scheduled before news broke of the Air France/KLM deal”.
He reportedly told the Spanish newspaper that BA would wait to find out how European regulators view the proposed Air France/KLM deal, as well as “strengthening ties” with Iberia, before deciding whether go proceed with merger talks.
