BA gives staff more cheap flights
Some 17,500 British Airways workers are reportedly to be given two extra discounted flights as a “reward” for recent hard work.
The BBC News website reports that workers including check-in staff, baggage handlers and engineers will be given access to two more flights on the internal Hotline discounting system – on top of their present annual entitlement of 10 cheap flights.
A spokewoman is quoted as saying that the tickets are “a way of recognising that this group of staff have had to deal with some challenging times recently”.
She reportedly added: “This is very separate to the pay issue. It is not anything to do with potential strike action.”
While the company has not commented on the potential cost of the move, the Sunday Times suggested that it could be around GBP4 million.
