BA High Court battle looms

British Airways employees are to clash with management in the High Court this week as the union Unite mounts a case to overturn frozen pay and reduction of crew numbers brought in last year.
The union will argue that improper consulting took place. BA staff were supposed to strike over these issues over Christmas but management blocked this with a High Court action.
A strike ballot is currently taking place, closing on February 22.
Changes to pay and staffing levels were first mooted last summer by management and rejected outright by staff. Unite will argue that they were brought in anyway in November and because the changes were contractual there should have been proper consultation.
British Airways disputes this, saying the changes did not alter the contractual conditions for individual staff members.
