British Airways is to launch a direct route from London City Airport to Faro in Portugal.

The inaugural flight will take place on June 7.

Flight E90 will run three times a week, departing London at 13.20 and arriving in Faro at 16.15 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It will depart at 16.40 and arrive 19.35 on Sundays.

The Algarve Promotion Board says it hopes the new service will give a boost to its MICE market as well as topping up its tourist figures.
