BA says sorry for flight delay
British Airways has apologised to passengers who spent more than three hours sweltering in a non-air conditioned plane while stuck on the tarmac in Athens.
Their flight was eventually cancelled due to a power failure and they were allowed off the plane and transferred to overnight accommodation in the city.
Flight BA633 was due to leave Athens at 7.50pm but passengers were forced to sit onboard for more than three hours without air conditioning after the power failed ‘three or four times’, said the Daily Mail.
One passenger told the newspaper they were informed the aircraft’s computers had failed and needed to be fixed. When the airline decided to cancel the flight, passengers were bussed to a hotel.
Some flew home yesterday, but it is understood that around 100 passengers were left behind.
BA said in a statement: "We took care of our customers and offered them overnight hotel accommodation after our flight was cancelled due to a technical fault.
"We are very sorry for the inconvenience, but the safety of our customers is always our highest priority."
