BA strike a “no-win†– AITO

British Airways cabin crew have been urged to consider both the chaos they will cause to the public by striking and also the long-term damage to the airline.
The call came from the Association of Independent Tour Operators in the wake of the Unite union announcing industrial action over seven days later this month
AITO aviation committee chairman John Tangney (Tangney Tours) said: “This is a no-win situation for all concerned. Hard-working travellers lose out on their flights, cabin crew are vilified for causing such disruption and BA is seen in a far from favourable light.
“Nobody will have much sympathy for the cabin crew, passengers will migrate to other airlines and the long-term result is that jobs will suffer; it’s a downward spiral for all concerned.
“Does the Unite trade union not realise we’ve just been though one of the worst recessions in living memory?
“At least its members currently have jobs, unlike many in the travel industry. There are many hundreds of people who would love to be in the shoes of its members with a secure job.”
