British Airways has become the first UK airline to take delivery of the futuristic long-range Boeing 777-300ER.
The aircraft is more fuel efficient and quieter than its predecessors and BA will fit it with a new interior that features new World Traveller and World Traveller Plus cabins plus a new in-flight entertainment system.
Passengers will now get more than 230 TV shows, 70 films and 400 CDs at their disposal when they take a flight in it.
Chief executive Willie Walsh said: “We will add two more B777-300s by the end of this year, and three more by early 2012.
“All these new aircraft generate significantly less CO2 emissions per seat than their predecessors and reinforce British Airways’ commitment to reduce its carbon footprint.”
The craft will go into service later in the year with a four-class configuration; First, Club World, World Traveller Plus and World Traveller.
