BA takes on low-cost rivals
British Airways has launched discounted fares on selected short-haul routes from Gatwick to try to claw back business from its low-cost rivals.
The airline is offering one-way, year-round fares from £49 inclusive of taxes to one in three of the 42 European cities it serves from Gatwick as part of its new High Value Flying campaign.
BA head of brand and insights Abigail Comber emphasised that, unlike low-cost rivals such as easyJet, its fares included check-in luggage, drinks and snacks onboard and allocated seating. Passengers can also take two pieces of hand-luggage.
“With British Airways, the price you see is the price you get," she said. "High Value Flying is about not scrambling into a sandwich shop before you board, but getting drinks and a snack as standard."
The new campaign will be supported with advertising in print, press, outdoor and digital media.
