BA talks with unions break down
Talks between British Airways and unions over job cuts and pay have broken down.
Cabin crew union, Unite, has registered a failure to agree and there will now be a two-week cooling off period.
BA said this period was “for both sides to reflect on where they are and explore ways of resolving mattersâ€.
The airline is trying to persuade unions to accept a wide range of cuts and radical changes.
The pilots union, Balpa, has already agreed to accept a pay cut in return for BA shares.
But it is expected that unions for other BA workers, including baggage handlers and check-in staff, will also register a similar “failure to agree”.
