BAA passenger figures show further improvement
BAA’s passenger figures for January indicate that confidence in air travel is continuing to return following the September 11 terrorist attacks.
The operator’s seven UK airports handled 8 million passengers last month – while this was down 3.9% compared to January last year, it represents continued recovery on the results for October, November and December which were down by 12%, 10.6% and 6.4% respectively.
North Atlantic and domestic traffic showed the biggest improvement and were down in January by 10.1% and 2.7% respectively. In December North Atlantic traffic fell by 13% and domestic traffic by 6.5%.
