Baggage survey is not open and shut case…

Thursday, 04 Jun, 2010 0

British Airways has hit out at a survey published by an insurance company today that claims UK air passengers suffer lost luggage more often with the airline than any other.

LV Insurance says one in 3.8 BA passengers have had their bags lost, damaged or delayed in the last five years but the airline, already under siege as its cabin crew complete a second five-day strike today, have described this as “rubbish”, saying there is insufficient evidence to support the figure.

The survey said Virgin Atlantic was the next worst carrier for losing luggage with one in 8.3 passengers of Sir Richard’s airline reporting bag problems. Next came Emirates with a one in nine statistic then Easyjet with one in 11.1 and then Ryanair (one in 12.5).

LV surveyed 2,007 passengers and said that 29% of UK passengers had to put up with baggage issues since 2005.

BA cabin crew are set to start a third strike period tomorrow (Saturday), with union Unite fighting on for restored travel perks for strikers and improved pay and conditions.
