Balearic Islands booze crackdown
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) outlined new drining rules imposed in the Balearic Islands in Spain. The sale of alcohol has been restricted while boozy activities such as pub crawls, party boat cruises and happy hours are banned.
The restrictions cover certain resort areas including San Antonio and Magaluf. The new law bans off-licence alcohol sales from 9.30pm to 8am. Fines can be up to €60,000. The six drinks per day rule is in force at hotels all-inclusive resorts.
Fines could also be issued for attending ‘irregular commercially promoted parties in villas and private homes, the FCO said.
