Bali boost for Club Med
Positive figures released by Club Med in Paris are being echoed locally with Australian visitors to Club Med resorts growing 7.5 percent against 2009.
Club Med general manager for Australia, Quentin Briard, said one of the key drivers for positive growth was Bali where the renovated resort has seen a 43 percent rebound.
Skiing in Japan recorded a massive growth spurt, with Australian sales up 40 percent to the snowfields of Hokkaido and the newly upgraded Club Med Sahoro, now a 4 Trident resort.
“Club Med has also focused heavily on rebuilding a depressed MICE market,” said Briard.
“We have seen a strong business growth of 23 percent for MICE figures since the GFC slowed corporate spending on incentives and meetings business.â€
Next year will see new ski product and increased capacity for family ski holidays, with the opening of Club Med Yabuli, Club Med’s first ski resort in China.â€
