Balinese urged to feast on caterpillar plague
There appears to be no end in sight for Bali’s caterpillar plague which environmentalists are blaming on the island’s diminishing population of birds that once controlled the pest.
According to Bali Update (www.balidiscovery.com) officials in some areas of Bali are urging citizens to gather the furry insects and eat them.
The growing plague of caterpillars is destroying fruit and trees in its wake.
The caterpillars, which cause skin irritations when in contact with humans, have now been discovered in six of Bali’s nine regencies.
