Bangkok hotels bouncing back
HotelClub has confirmed that hotels in Thailand are back in business following the floods that have affected the country since July.
Hotel volumes slumped once Bangkok became threatened in mid-October.
Total Thailand hotel volumes dropped by 70 percent during week commencing October 24 compared to the average weekly transactions pre-flooding
Transaction volumes have risen sharply in the past five weeks with week commencing November 28 producing a 400 percent increase compared to week commencing October 24.
Year on year transactions are increasing as well with week commencing November 28 up by 15 percent compared to the same period last year
For Bangkok specifically, hotel volumes increased 40 percent during week November 28 compared to the week prior – resulting in a return to average weekly transactions pre-flooding
To encourage the return of travellers and tourists, HotelClub is launching the Thailand – Still Amazing campaign.
HotelClub will donate $5 AUD from each transaction at participating hotels to the Thai Red Cross Society,
In addition, selected Thai hotels will be on sale up to 60 percent off regular rates.
“Our on-the-ground hotel experts (in Thailand) are seeing a significant increase in market confidence and foreign visitors,†said Chaminda Ranasinghe, commercial director, HotelClub.
