Barceló Hotel Group has confirmed the conclusion of a strategic alliance with Kempinski Group, in line with its international growth and development strategy. Under this partnership, Barceló will deploy high-value commercial and operational services across a selection of hotels within the Kempinski portfolio.

Barceló Hotel Group is the hotel division of Barceló Group, a family-owned tourism company founded in 1931 in Mallorca, Spain, and still owned and operated by the Barceló family. It is currently Spain’s second-largest hotel group by number of rooms and one of the top 30 hotel companies worldwide, with 288 hotels and 65,000 rooms across 30 countries in Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East.

Its portfolio is marketed under four brands: Royal Hideaway Hotels & Resorts, Barceló Hotels & Resorts, Occidental Hotels & Resorts, and Allegro Hotels.

Founded in 1872, Kempinski is Europe’s oldest luxury hotel company. Its rich heritage—built on impeccable, personalized service and exceptional hospitality—is combined with the exclusivity and distinctive character of its properties. The group currently operates 73 hotels and residences in 30 countries and has more than 22 prestigious projects under development worldwide.

Through this partnership, Barceló Hotel Group will help strengthen long-term competitiveness in the global market by delivering:

  • Greater operational efficiency, supported by its extensive experience and large-scale presence in key strategic markets
  • Enhanced commercial performance, driven by a fully integrated global multi-channel distribution platform
  • Access to broad marketing and promotional capabilities across major source markets

Targeting the luxury segment

This collaboration also represents a strategic opportunity for Barceló Hotel Group to strengthen its footprint in the luxury segment across priority destinations. It will enable both groups to combine their expertise to drive the development and competitiveness of the hotels within this collection.

This alliance is fully aligned with our international expansion strategy and marks an important step in strengthening our global position as a leading international hotel operator,” said Raúl González, CEO EMEA of Barceló Hotel Group. “Partnering with such a well-established group as Kempinski allows us to further enhance our presence in the luxury segment.

With this agreement, Barceló Hotel Group continues to pursue its growth and transformation strategy, confident that this collaboration will deliver strong results in the years ahead.
