Barcelona to celebrate and reward travel films from September 26 to 28

Thursday, 18 Sep, 2025 0

Barcelona is hosting the second edition of Travel Film Awards (TFA). With its Modernist architecture, urban beaches, and vibrant film scene, the Catalonia capital provides a perfect backdrop to celebrate cinema’s power as a driver of sustainable tourism.

The event will take place from September 26 to 28 in Cinemes Girona, an independent film theater housed in a restored late 20th century building. Beyond its top quality technical facilities, Cinemes Girona is renowned for its curated program of European and international arthouse films, retrospectives, and special events.

TFA brings the audiovisual and tourism communities together in Barcelona to celebrate the power of travel storytelling and promote responsible tourism. It coincides with the World Tourism Day on September 27 and the focus on “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.”

The program features some 30 short films in an international selection across multiple genres and categories, plus rich professional touch-points: networking opportunities, a masterclass, an experts’ panel, and curated film tours across the city—with sustainability thoughtfully embedded.

TFA also convenes travel-sector stakeholders (accommodation, agencies, attractions, transport, policymakers, and local/visiting audiences) as well as the audiovisual community (filmmakers, professionals, and cultural influencers), catalyzing connections and projects.

TFA exists to bridge cinema and destinations, inspire more mindful journeys, and position Barcelona as a hub where travel stories drive real-world impact,” says Masih Sharif, Founder and Director of TFA.
