Barrhead to remain Advantage member despite new ‘Venture’
Barrhead Travel is to remain a member of Advantage Travel Centres despite joining forces with Midcounties Co-op to create ‘Venture’.
The agency chain, which has 48 branches across Scotland, announced its plans to create the largest buying group in the industry with Midcounties in June.
But Barrhead has decided to also stay on a member of Advantage for the Focus Partnership, CAPS (Advantage’s central payment system) and conferences.
Sharon Munro, chief executive of Barrhead Travel, said: "We are pleased to agree the basis for our continued membership of Advantage as we value the long-standing relationship we have and the benefits we receive.
"We have attended the annual Advantage Conference and we will continue to benefit from being a member of the Focus Partnership. Advantage does not interfere with how we operate our business and we can continue to benefit from selected services that allow us to keep our entrepreneurial business spirit flourishing.
Julia Lo Bue-Said, leisure director at Advantage Travel Centres, said: "This move underlines the additional value Advantage provides its members. We are not just a buying group, but providing the extra products and services helps members in many aspects of their business and allows them to trade effectively."
Venture, the joint Barrhead and Midcounties buying group, is set to launch on November 1 and will see Midcounties take on Barrhead’s Nevis in-house technology system, see previous story.
Barrhead has previously given notice to Advantage to leave at the end of September.
