Bazaar Intern Program for the GC
Over the 30 day June festival five Griffith University students will be given the opportunity to experience first hand what it takes to be a Public Relations professional on the Gold Coast.
Students will be required to source and develop media releases, coordinate visual opportunities and interact with media leading up to and during the festival.
GCT Intern Program Coordinator Natalie Schofield said the project was designed to encourage up and coming public relations students by providing real life experiences.
“GCT is dedicated to the growth of the Gold Coast not only through tourism but also through the development of skilled professionals.”
“This program was designed to give back to the community and assist students wanting to explore the Tourism and Public Relation industries,†Ms Schofield said.
“We believe this program will be greatly beneficial to students, GCT and the wider Gold Coast community and we hope to grow the program further in the future.â€
Emily Frost will head the group as the GCBazaar Editor and will oversee the program.
“This is a fantastic and rare opportunity to gain an insight into the mechanics of the Public Relations and Tourism industry,†she said.
“I love the Gold Coast and Public Relations and to combine the two is a dream come true,†Ms Frost said.
Griffith University’s Head of Arts Stephen Stockwell said GCBazaar is a unique project and a great opportunity to expose students to the industry.
“We place over 100 students each year into media organisations on the Gold Coast and I haven’t seen anything quite as intense,†he said.
“GCT is a very central organisation and network opportunities are immense.
“Work experience gives students the edge in finding employment when they need it,†Professor Stockwell said.
In addition to the Public Relations Intern Program several students from a variety of education institutions will participate in GCT work placement, across a range of Event Administration areas prior and during the festival.
GCBazaar is an annual celebration of fashion, food and fun on the Gold Coast from 1 to 30 June.
