From the Plane to the Beach at Reef Villa & Spa in a Little Over an Hour

Located just 40 minutes south of Colombo, on the south west coast of Sri Lanka, it cannot be easier to be off the plane and on beach in just over an hour enjoying your perfect tropical getaway at Reef Villa & Spa, Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is renowned for its unspoilt sandy beaches which fringe the island and Reef offers the benefit of having direct and level access from its tropical gardens to a gorgeous, unspoilt sandy beach where the sea is wonderful for swimming.

The beach stretches majestically in either direction in front of Reef Villa and Spa.  Throughout the year the sea is warm but from December to April the Indian Ocean comes into its own and particularly during the Christmas season.

The endless unspoilt sandy beach is fringed by coconut laden palm trees and its fine golden sand is dotted with an array of shells washed up on a daily basis.

Wake up to the rhythmic chanting of the fishermen hauling in their nets and join them if you wish. Alternatively, laze away the morning in a hammock strung between coconut trees before indulging in an alfresco lunch in Summer Breeze, Reef’s wonderful coastal cuisine restaurant.

After spoiling yourself at lunch, say hello to Monica the local temple elephant walking with her mahout along the beach. Cast your eyes skywards and spot sea eagles soaring overhead and if you look across to the weather vane you are likely to see the resident kingfisher. Cross then to the lily ponds and you’ll no doubt find the well camouflaged Indian pond herons staking out their lunch.

In the evening, relax with your favourite cocktail and catch the sun going down over the horizon of the Indian Ocean.

After a day basking in the sun, retire to your suite furnished with antiques, an Indian swing, handmade granite baths, a 150 year old antique Calcutta bed, Campaign furniture and Indian silks.

Reef Villa & Spa is a luxury seven bedroom boutique hotel set in 3 acres of tropical gardens with lily ponds, a 65 metre sandy beach front, a tennis court and yoga.

Reef’s Summer Breeze coastal cuisine restaurant is located within the lush hotel gardens. It’s a stylish, alfresco restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean, encompassing a traditional thatched roof pavilion decorated with wonderful old traditional wooden and brass cooking implements.

Whether it is breakfast, lunch or dinner, Reef’s Chefs and their team have designed menus of exceptional quality featuring the best of both International and Sri Lankan cuisine

As a team Reef is committed to serving guests promptly efficiently and discreetly.
