Bedsonline urging agents to help support World Day Against Child Labor
B2B accommodation platform Bedsonline is supporting the International Labour Organization’s World Day Against Child Labor on June 12.
During the day Bedsonline is donating 1 Euro for every booking received through its platform to nonprofit organisation A21, which has a mission of eradicating slavery worldwide.
The funds raised will be used to support its Thailand Child Advocacy Center.
According to the US Labor Department, there are still 168 million children in forced labour worldwide.
Bedsonline will launch the campaign in its key markets of the Americas, Asia Pacific and EMEA.
"We are very proud to join the World Day Against Child Labor as part of our commitment to stop the commercial sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. We encourage all the travel agents out there that use our platform to make as many bookings as possible on June 12 using just our Bedsonline platform only – for every single booking, be it a hotel or a transfer or activity," said Alistair Rodger, director of retail travel agents at parent Hotelbeds Group.
"We recognise that the tourism industry has the legal and moral obligation to ensure that the protection of children and adolescents is included in its development agenda."
"We chose to focus the funds raised on Thailand for two main reasons. On the one hand, A21’s Thailand Child Advocacy Center is 100% dedicated to children in the region; on the other hand, Thailand is our 4th most booked destination globally and therefore our commitment to the country is strong," added Rodger.
A21 is an Australia-based non-profit founded in 2008 which fights human trafficking, including sexual exploitation, forced slave labour and child soldiery.
