Luxury hotel and travel experience operator Belmond has announced a programme of expert-led rivers journeys in Myanmar this summer, featuring themes around Burmese language and culture, military history, photography and wellness.

The first river journey departs on August 16 for a 12-night journey aboard the Belmond Orcaella on the Chindwin River, sailing to the foot of the Himalayas.

Guests will be joined by Justin Watkins, professor of Burmese at SOAS University of London who will host lectures and Burmese language lessons.

On the Belmond Road to Mandalay vessel, celebrated yoga guru Nadia Narain will accompany guests on a yoga and meditation journey along the Ayeyarwady River in late August, along with former British Army officer, General Sir Mike Jackson, who will offer insights into some of the most important military operations in recent history.

On October 8 and 12, award-winning photographer Sue Flood conducts talks and offers personal tuition aboard the Belmond Road to Mandalay for guests to improve their photography skills.

The Belmond Road to Mandalay this year celebrates 20 years cruising the rivers of Myanmar and was joined in 2013 by the Belmond Orcaella.

Each Belmond river cruise features expert local guides, fine dining and spa treatments.
